Carn Llidi is a prominent hill above Whitesands beach near St Davids. It stands at 181 meters (595 feet) above sea level. The hill is a well loved feature of the rugged North Pembrokeshire landscape. It’s notable for its panoramic views over the surrounding coastline. Looking straight across at Ramsey Island and the rugged cliffs of St. David’s Head.
Carn Llidi is often referred to as a ‘tump’ (a small hill), but it offers an exceptional viewpoint. On a clear day, you can see Pembrokeshire laid out below you and the Irish sea to the North and West. It’s a popular destination for walkers and hikers, offering a relatively straightforward ascent, well worth a walk with its incredible views from the summit.
The hill is also of archaeological interest. At the top, you can find the remnants of a prehistoric cairn, believed to have been built by ancient peoples as a burial or ceremonial site. Carn Llidi is thought to have been part of a larger network of settlements and structures that existed in the region long before recorded history.
Carn Llidi and its surroundings hold significant ecological importance as well. During the warmer months the area blooms with wildflowers and is a prime spot for birdwatching.
