St Davids Pembrokeshire
St Justinians lifeboat station is two miles away from St Davids. The old lifeboat station is pictured here with the new station just out of shot on the left of the image. The small harbour is the departure point for a variety of boat trips to Ramsey island and the surrounding area. You can get to St Justinians from April to September on the Celtic Coaster bus leaving from St Davids.
St Davids Cathedral and the Bishop’s Palace as seen from the air with the surrounding city and the sea in the background. St Davids Cathedral is the national Cathedral of Wales. The Cathedral was primarily built between the years 1180 to 1220. It was modified and added to all the way up to the sixteenth century.
Ramsey Island just off the shore from Whitesands beach in St Davids is owned and run by the RSPB as a bird reserve, the only RSPB owned island in Wales. The island is open to visitors during the summer each year. The walk around Ramsey is three and half miles long.
Whitesands beach is a popular surfing beach with its own surf lifesaving club and lifeguard station.
Caerfai Bay is a beautiful cove just south of Whitesands beach in St Davids. The beach is surrounded by steep cliffs on all sides and accessed with a winding cliff path. The path is linked to the Wales and Pembrokeshire coast paths.
There’s more than one way to sample the great outdoors in and around St Davids. There’s cliff face rock climbing at Porthclais Harbour and St Davids golf course overlooking Ramsey Island an idyllic corner of Wales.
